Loon Fundraiser
Fundraiser for the National Immigrant Justice Center
Like so many of you, I am heartbroken to see families and communities in Minnesota and beyond being ripped apart by the violence and cruelty of ICE. Since I have been painting ducks lately, I designed a Common Loon, the state bird of Minnesota, and I’m auctioning it off to raise money in support of the National Immigrant Justice Center. According to their website, “The National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) defends the rights of immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. Our advocacy and legal services teams keep families together, free people from the dangers of immigrant detention, and prevent asylum seekers and long-time community members from being deported based on unjust laws and illegal government actions.”
This 8× 6.75 × 6 inch Common Loon took about 8 hours to create, using acrylic and paint markers. The base duck is PVC. I have sealed it with a protective coating, but it's not squeezable, and it's intended for decorative purposes only. Signed and dated on the bottom. All proceeds from the sale of this item will be donated to the National Immigrant Justice Center.
